Now that the infamous "Hula Hoop Tree" got chopped down yesterday, Iowans have been looking for a new source of tree-based entertainment.
Cue the Jump Rope Tree:
I don't feel comfortable posting the map of this tree's location on my blog, but you can follow the above link and find it if you want to check it out.
I'm already aware of people who have gone to visit the Jump Rope Tree since the Hula Hoop Tree's destruction and commented that the tree could do with more jump ropes. And from the comments, the Jump Rope Tree's creators actively encourage people to hang their jump ropes from the tree.
So check this out -- though be prepared to spend a bit of time traveling on a gravel road.
Cue the Jump Rope Tree:
As were all pretty bummed about the hula hoop tree being cut down, on a positive note, a few weeks back my friend and I created a jump rope tree in Preston, IA. below I have the location. This is on a safer road away from the highway but also easy to find. I know it will never be the same as the hula hoop tree but hopefully this sheds a small amount of light on a new attraction. And if my first few comments seemed overly snarky, they weren't. I'm just joking around. I'm actually glad that someone was inspired by the Hula Hoop Tree's legacy. And I'm glad that they grabbed the bull by the horn (or the tree by its branches) and created something after the Hula Hoop Tree's destruction instead of complaining like everyone else!
