I apologize for not writing as much lately. Everything is about COVID-19 lately and sometimes I'm looking for anything but COVID-19. And even if/when I do find something that isn't about COVID-19, it seems trite. Not that tonight will likely be any different but...
You know that I'm a fan of "Coronation Street" if you've read this blog for long. We are quickly discovering that even the world of British soap operas aren't immune to COVID-19. We were told earlier this week that "Corrie" and another soap called "Emmerdale" were going to incorporate the importance of proper hand washing into their story lines in an effort to curb the spread of this coronavirus outbreak.
Almost immediately, I witnessed some prominent hand washing in a scene between emotional abuser Geoff and his wife Yasmeen last Tuesday. In this scene, Geoff had made a meal for Yasmeen where he was preparing to tell her that they were relocating to Cypruss -- far away from her friends and relatives. She came downstairs with her bathroom cleaning supplies:
Meanwhile, I've also learned that "Coronation Street" has put a stop to kissing scenes in an effort to prevent COVID-19 from spreading on-site. And then earlier today, we learned that the soap's production studio has been altered so that only one episode of the program will be broadcast Monday, Wednesday, and Friday evenings, instead of twice nightly.

Geoff: I bet that bathroom's like a new pin.I've described the scene to a few of my co-workers, who thought that it sounded cheesy. And honestly, I'm not sure that I personally would've chosen this uncomfortable couple as my hand washing models. Then again, it was the perfect couple to actually discuss hand washing in such a way.
Yasmeen: I did my best.
Geoff: 'Course you did, my sweet.... Wash your hands first, you've had your arm jammed up a U-bend.
Yasmeen: Oh, yes! **Begins washing hands**
Geoff: You are singing "Happy Birthday" twice over in your head like I told you, aren't you?
Yasmeen: Yes, of course, I always do.
