Following weeks of sub-zero cold and excessive snow and ice, large chunks of the Midwest are experiencing severe flooding. Some horrible person decided to abandon two lovely Maltese dogs near rising floodwater in central Iowa. The two dogs were found by DNR employees near floodwaters. Fortunately, they were still alive and currently under the care of the AHeinz57 pet rescue organization.
The two dogs were found in a locked kennel near Van Meter, IA. According to an AHeinz57 representative, the dogs had previously been taken care of. They were well-fed. They were groomed. They were clean. They were in good health.
It's unclear why the dogs were abandoned. They will presumably be put up for adoption soon.
Oh, and one of them is micro-chipped. So we will hopefully learn why their owner tried to drown them soon.
