Two bills were recently introduced that would mandate gun ownership for all adults in Missouri. Both bills were introduced by Rep. Andrew McDaniel of Deering, MO. The bills include:
- House Bill 1108 (AKA the McDaniel Militia Act), which would require every person between the ages of 18 and 35 to own an AR-15, assuming that they are legally able to possess firearms within the state. Everyone would receive a tax credit for the purchase of their AR-15. They would have one year to purchase their AR-15 if they do not already own one. And if you ever move to Missouri, you would be required to purchase your AR-15 within one year of moving into the state.
- House Bill 1052 (AKA the McDaniel Second Amendment Act), which would require every person over the age of 21 years of age to own a handgun if they are legally able to own one.
Both bills were introduced in late February 2019. Neither bill is currently scheduled for a hearing or on the House calendar.
