Sapphic supporters of "Coronation Street" are distraught following news that the British soap opera will be killing off one half of its popular female same-sex couple: Rana Habeeb. The Sun reports that actress Bhavna Limbachia will be written out of the show -- apparently on her character's wedding day:
It's unclear to me when exactly Limbachia will be leaving "Corrie," though it will happen sometime in 2019.
Details of her death are being kept under wraps by secretive bosses on the ITV series but initial plans involved her dying on her wedding day to partner Kate Connor, played by Faye Brookes, 31... When new executive producer Iain Macleod joined she immediately told him of her plans, with script writers then beginning work on a dramatic exit.
An ITV source said... “She wanted Rana to be killed off as she didn’t like the idea of just splitting them up as it would upset the fans of the show. The scenes will be heartbreaking to watch. Rana will die in Kate’s arms.”When it comes to "Kana" (Jon's Note: Have I ever mentioned that I hate it when people create combined couple names??), I'm much more about Rana than Kate. Both of them can be self-absorbed, but Rana has it more together than Kate. So I'm disappointed that Rana is leaving and not Kate.
