(Originally written on 11/11/18): I was on Twitter this evening when I stumbled across this tweet from Archie Comics' Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa. It was posted earlier this afternoon.
It features Archie and Jingles the Christmas Elf and informs us of "big news for the Archiverse coming tomorrow." I'm hoping that this announcement will specifically involved Jingles and not just be a more generic Christmas announcement.
Here are my ideas:
Idea #1: Archie Comics will announce that Jingles the Christmas Elf will make his first "Riverdale" appearance sometime next month. It will presumably happen during their Christmas episode. Hopefully, Jingles will be a nice elf and not a horrible elf. Maybe he will even use some of his Christmas magic to spring Archie from prison and send him safely back home to live with his family and friends again! Either that, or else he will turn out to be an evil minion of the Gargoyle King!
Incidentally, could Jingle turn out to be the source of Riverdale's jingle-jangle drug epidemic??
Idea #2: Archie Comics will announce a new television series or special -- either network or streaming service -- featuring Jingles the Elf. I wouldn't mind if this one turned out to be a darker incarnation, but it would also be fun to see an animated series that's safe enough for children to watch, but smart enough that older fans could enjoy!
Idea #3: Archie Comics will announce a JINGLES comic book series or special. Presumably, it would be part of the publisher's Archie Horror line of comic books. In other words, Jingles will be dark, scary, and blood-thirsty.
Personally, I'm hoping for Idea #1 with the potential for it to spin-off into Idea #2.
We will know for sure tomorrow. I'll post more as I learn more!
Updated on 11/12/18: There was definitely a special Christmas announcement, but it had nothing to do with Jingles the Christmas Elf -- at least not overtly (possibly). Read here for more information.
