I've Got a Theory about Cyclops' Murder in EXTERMINATION #4

So I was right about Young Cable forcibly recruiting Mimic to become a wing-donor for Angel prior to sending him back to his proper place within the timeline. In last week's EXTERMINATION #4, Young Cable told Jean Grey and X-Force that he needs to return all of the Young X-Men back to their proper spot in history. Ahab is trying to kill off one of the Young X-Men -- any of them, doesn't matter which. If he does that, then the timeline will unravel and the X-Men will get wiped out. But he can't send Angel back with his cosmic wings, so he uses his future technology to remove Mimic mimicked wings and grafts them on Angel's back.

I already knew the big spoiler from EXTERMINATION #4. Ahab finally manages to kill off one of the original X-Men. He takes one of his energy harpoons and shunks it through Cyclops' head! Everyone looked shocked and it was clear that the future was now completely messed up because of his death.

But I have another theory about EXTERMINATION and it has everything to do with Cyclops and his murder. And that line of dialogue between the two Jean Greys in the top pic reveals all!:
Young Jean Grey: Scott?

Old Jean Grey: No.
The older Jean Grey wasn't in denial. I believe that the older Jean Grey knows the truth.

Ahab didn't kill Scott Summers. Ahab killed Calvin Rankin (AKA Mimic).

At this point in the story, Young Cable had convinced Young Jean Grey, X-Force, and Mimic that the timeline would be permanently messed up if any of the Young X-Men were killed. They rushed to Searebro to save Cyclops from Ahab's vicious assault.

Unfortunately, Cyclops jumps into the final battle to avenge Bloodstorm's murder (from way back in EXTERMINATION #1) -- and promptly gets harpooned through the head. Cue the mourning.

Except that I don't believe that Ahab killed Cyclops. I think that that it Mimic leaping into the battle, sacrificing himself so that Cyclops and the other young X-Men can escape and save history. I mean, this Cyclops doesn't look like he's wearing visors. And both he and Scott and hanging around shirtless right now. Which means that the man hanging around with a harpoon to the face way at the top of this article could easily be Mimic.

So... that's my theory. RIP Mimic. You never quite fit in with the X-Men. It's unfortunate that you had to sacrifice your life (and your wings) so that the rest of the X-Men could continue breathing!
