Marvel to Publish "Star Wars" Comic Books in 2015

Back in October, it was big new that the Walt Disney Company bought Lucasfilms. I wrote at the time about my early memories of the STAR WARS comic books which were published at the time by Marvel Comics and got to wonder if Marvel Comics -- which is owed by the Walt Disney Company -- might eventually reclaim its comic book publishing license.

Apparently, the answer is yes, once Lucasfilms' current contract with Dark Horse wraps up:
The Suits in the know have determined that no new contracts will be given to Dark Horse after the current ones expire. So all new projects after 2013 will be handled internally by Marvel.

It's not known yet if titles will be worked into the regular line up, or will Marvel create a special branch of the company that deals with Star Wars. It'll take a couple of years for the old deals to work there course, but the stories that Dark Horse have coming down the pipeline will be the last. And you can expect anything new from Marvel dealing with Star Wars to arrive around 2015.
It's been noted elsewhere that the new Marvel Comics STAR WARS comics should be beginning right about the time that the recently promised new "Star Wars" trilogy will be released. Presumably that translates into a comic book adaptation of those new films (assuming they actually make comic book adaptations of films these days).
