Last year, Archie Comics' LIFE WITH ARCHIE launched a storyline that reintroduced Cheryl Blossom to the adult Riverdale gang. She came how after contracting breast cancer (here and here). That particular storyline is still ongoing in the "Archie Marries Betty" half of the comic book.
Now the new news is that Marvel Comics is teaming up with Komen For the Cure to create a storyline in which a big-name Marvel Comics hero will contract cancer later in 2013. Bleeding Cool indicates that the unlucky woman will be one of these four heroes: Captain Marvel, Red She-Hulk, Invisible Woman, or Rogue.
Husband Mark thinks that Red She-Hulk will be the character who contracts cancer. I tend to agree with Bleeding Cool that Captain Marvel seems like a good choice from a nostalgia perspective -- given that the original Captain Marvel ultimately died from cancer way back before I began reading comic books.
What do you think, readers? Which of the four super-heroes listed above do you think will get cancer in 2013? Feel free to share your theories in the comments section below.
