The Iowa City police were called. According to media reports, he told officers that he wasn't going to move and that nobody was going to get past him. He was eventually physically removed from the entrance area and escorted to the sidewalk. He was reportedly told that he could protest from the sidewalk, but couldn't return to the doorway and block access to the building. He reportedly told them that he planned to return to the abortion clinic's entrance.
Owens-Holst was eventually arrested and charged with Trespassing and Interference with Official Acts. He faces up to 30 days in jail if convicted.
This isn't the first time that Owens-Holst has had a run-in with the Emma Goldman Clinic. Back in 2006, he was arrested after trying to enter the clinic to "break the fingers of the abortion doctors so they couldn't kill babies." He reportedly grabbed a clinic employee by her neck outside the clinic, pushed her against a vehicle and threw her cell phone to the ground. He subsequently smashed an office window with the intent of entering the building. He pleaded guilty to Assault and was sentenced to five years of probation and time served.
