(Originally written on 07/02/20): Sad news tonight. I just learned that The CW decided to cancel "Katy Keene" following its first season. The underdog "Riverdale" spin-off never quit caught on with the fans. Unlike "Riverdale" -- whose initial streaming ratings saved the show's first season low broadcast ratings.
It appears that they're exploring other options, like getting HBO Max, to keep the musical dramedy going. But it's kind of a long shot...
I really enjoyed "Katy Keene," even though I didn't write too much about it here. Credit that to coronavirus fatigue. But I appreciated the theme of dream-seeking as a contrast to the dark subversive underbelly of "Riverdale."
I'll miss the show -- but I'm okay with its end.

Hi guys! I've had to do this a couple of times just 'cuz I was a blubbering mess and y'all don't wanna see that. So... I've kind of struggled all day with what I wanted to say about this, or if I should anything, or... Nothing felt right. I don't want to just post a picture or a caption because nothing would do justice to how I feel about "Katy Keene" or how I feel about the people involved with it. Truly, one of the highlights of my life. Such a joy, from top to bottom.Hale praised everyone involved with the program for their hard work and with the television program's fan for their support. She encouraged fans to keep watching "Katy Keene" on HBO Max.
Oh.... Some of you are like, "What's she talking about??" We did not get picked up for a second season. Which happens. It's happened a few times to me and each time it's like *mimics punch in the gut* just heart-breaking! It's a job that has broken my heart numerous times. This is bad. This is a bad one. It'll take some time to get over...
I wanted to make this video so that you can hear straight from me so nothing's like misconstrued. Long story short, I'm grateful and I am grateful for the role of a lifetime. What a blast!
