The CW's Katy Keene series wrapped up its first season last night with a bit of a question mark about its future. Katy Keene has struggled to find a television audience. Now the CW is waiting to see if the musical series picks up a sizable streaming audience to move the show forward:
That decision will have to wait until the streaming numbers for the series are released in the next few weeks. The CW Chairman and CEO Mark Pedowitz stated this on a recent call. He explained, "The linear ratings have been soft but we have seen some good streaming viewership," indicating that those streaming statistics are likely to encourage a series renewal. Pedowitz then stated, "We'll make a decision in a few weeks."Riverdale was in the same boat during its first season. Its initial broadcast ratings were low, but its streaming audience -- both on the CW website and later on Netflix -- saved Archie Comics' teen drama.
