COVID-19 continues to mess up most of my summer plans. I haven't worked at my part-time job for over a month and most of my summer plans have been canceled: high school reunion, Laura Days, British Fest, possibly Trek Fest.
And it's not just me. Several of my online friends have been lamenting the loss of 2020's Pride events. Some of those friends are newly out and were looking forward to attending their first Pride celebrations.
Because of all this, I've been checking the Iowa City Pride website and Facebook pages to see if they've been canceled yet -- and I've discovered that Iowa City Pride is still scheduled to happen on June 19th and 20th!
This appears to be confirmed by a recent article in the Iowa City Press-Citizen:
This summer's Iowa City Pride is going to be different than normal regardless of what happens. Normally the parade and festival happen on Saturday. But this year is Iowa City Pride's 50th anniversary and they are planning on hosting festival events on Friday evening and on Saturday.

Iowa City's 50th Pride Festival will go on as planned, at least for the time being. "We are still in discussion on our plans with Pride with a decision being made by the end of the month," Anthony Sivanthaphanith, the IC Pride president, told the Press-Citizen. "We already have an alternative plan if we do need to change the dates."According to the article, the Iowa City Pride board will make a final decision to carry on or postpone on May 1st. If it gets postponed, then Pride will happen in the fall -- with additional online programming during the month of June.
