Some employees at the Iowa City City Hall have begun wearing buttons identifying their preferred pronouns. Those pronoun options include "he, him, his,""she, her, hers," and "they, them, theirs."
According to Assistant City Manager Ashley Monroe, "We wanted to make sure that when we’re serving the public, that we’re also seen as safe and welcoming to all members of our community."
I told Husband Mark about this earlier this evening. He told me that he'd noticed a city employee wearing a "they, them, theirs" button recently when going to City Hall to pay one of our utility bills.
