Today is Super Bowl Sunday, which means that it's also time for "Puppy Bowl XVI" on Animal Planet. This is a football-themed romp featuring adorable puppies who run around and play with each other for two hours. I used to love watching the "Puppy Bowl" every year, but my enthusiasm has continued to dip as the show has increasingly relied on product placements, gimmicks, and social media interruptions. In past years, "Puppy Bowl" has featured rescue puppies from central Iowa, specifically AHeinz57 Pet Rescue and Transport shelter in De Soto, IA. This year, "Puppy Bowl XVI" will feature rescue dogs from AHeinz57 again -- seven to be exact! Check out these cuties!!:
Here are the puppies from top to bottom: Brody (16 week old Chihuahua//Dachshund mix), Ferris (20 week old Labrador Retriever/American Eskimo mix), Theodore (13 week old Pomeranian/Siberian Husky mix), Braelyn (18 week old American Staffordshire Terrier/Akita/Australian Kelie/Great Pyrenees mix), Clarence (16 week old American Staffordshire Terrier/Labrador Retriever/Collie/German /Shepherd mix), Jaxson (19 week old Australian Shepherd/Treeing Walker Coonhound/Shetland Sheepdog/Mini Schnauzer mix), and Sassy Li (19 week old Russell Terrier/Beagle/Australian Shepherd/German Shepherd/Lhasa Apso/Dachshund mix). (Jon's Note: Animal Planet lists the final dog as "Sissy Li," but the rescue itself lists her as "Sassy Li." I'm going with the rescue.
The first three puppies will be in the starting line-up.
Most likely, all of these puppies have been adopted, or will be by this time tomorrow.
