Whitefield Academy is a private Christian school in Louisville, KY. It's all over social media following reports that it expelled a 15-year-old student "immediately due to a post on social media" -- which was a picture of the girl sitting beside her rainbow-themed birthday cake.

A brief letter from the school to the girl's parents reads...
This letter serves as notification that Kayla is being dismissed from Whitefield Academy effective January 6, 2020. this is due to a continued breach of the Whitefield code of conduct, which was discussed in-person on October 17, 2019.
The girl was discovered with Juul pods in her backpack back in October, which resulted in her being placed on academic probation. According to the email sent to the parents, the social media post featuring the rainbow birthday cake was the latest in two years' worth of "lifestyle violations." the picture of the rainbow cake "demonstrates a posture of morality and cultural acceptance contrary to that of Whitfield Academy's beliefs."

The girl's family appealed the expulsion, but the appeal was rejected.

Representatives from Whitefield Academy are rejecting the notion that the rainbow cake got this girl expelled. But they don't appear to deny that it was the final straw that led to her expulsion:
“Inaccurate media reports are circling stating that the student in question was expelled from our school solely for a social media post," the school said in a statement. "In fact, she has unfortunately violated our student code of conduct numerous times over the past two years." The school added that, "“Whitefield Academy is accredited by ACSI/AdvancEd and a member of the Non Public School Commission of Kentucky, and therefore we meet all Kentucky regulations and laws. Our code of conduct is on pare with other private Christian schools in our area. It is unfortunate that one of the student’s parents chose to post internal family matters on social media, and we hope our former student is not adversely affected by what her parents chose to make public about her situation.”
Jacobson wouldn't say whether the photo of the rainbow cake and shirt led to the expulsion but said the girl had faced "a progression of discipline.""All the families of students know that they have expectations they need to (follow)," Jacobson said. "We always try to work with families over a period of time."
The girl is now attending a public high school.

Next time that a Christian complains that the gays stole the rainbow, just remember that this particular Christian school has conceded the rainbow's ownership transfer.
