My Argument Against the "Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve" Anti-Gay Marriage Retort

I was on Reddit tonight when I came across the following post on the GayChristian sub-Reddit:
What do you make of this general argument? Many try to suggest that since God made man and woman in the beginning, marriage can only be defined in terms of one man and one woman. Do you think this is right, or do you disagree. Why?
Which prompted the following response from me:
I think that only women who were literally created from a man’s rib should be allowed to be married.
But Husband Mark found that response a bit too snarky to be much good.

So here is a more serious response. I think that the general argument is weak. Just because Adam and Eve were first (assuming that one believes in a literal Adam and Eve), that doesn't mean that all marriages have to be between one man and one woman. It just means that these two were first.
