In a case of convenient timing,
Chattooga County Commissioner Jason Winters has barred cameras and video recording devices within the county's Commissioner's Office
less than one week after his wife was arrested for pouring soda over the head of a reporter. That incident occurred during a budget meeting. Jason Winters and his wife Abbey Winter both claimed that she'd merely tripped and split the water on the reporter (the morning after she'd written something critical on Facebook about Commissioner Winters). But the incident and Commissioner Winters' reaction was caught on a video recording and it was clear to pretty much everyone that Abbey Winters had dumped the soda over the reporter's head on purpose.
On 12/17/19, a sign was reportedly put up at the county office indicating that no cameras were permitted in the county building.
AllOnGeorgia reports that they confirmed that this ban on cameras and recording devices has always existed, but that they are just now enforcing it. The only notable exception will be when public meetings take place at the county office, which reportedly happens a couple times annually. Apparently, it's still okay to bring cell phones and tablets.
