There's a story circulating about a military vet and President Trump support whose dog -- a Alaskan Malamute named Donald Trump -- was shot by a hateful Democratic neighbor and left to die in the freezing cold. There's even a GoFundMe page for the dog's owner. Because why wouldn't there be?

According to the GoFundMe Story:
Please help us raise money for Randall Thom who’s dog was shot to death because he’s named “Donald Trump”. The pup was found in a field on February 10, 2019 and had suffered fatal wounds that included four on his legs, right shoulder and two on his back. The neighbor who shot the dog knew Randall was not home and was protesting the Amy Klobuchar event 3 hours away. Donald Trump lay shot and bled out and then froze to death all alone in a nearby farmers field. There is a police report on file. Randall is our presidents greatest supporter and has been to over 40 rallies and the founding member of the world famous Front Row Joes. Donald Trump will be taken to Jackson River Edge Veterinary clinic for cremation arrangements by Dr Carr, located in Jackson Minnesota.
I didn't actually hear of this story from social media. Instead, I encountered an AP article about a dog named Donald Trump, which grabbed my attention. It turns out that the dog might not have been shot by a hateful Democratic neighbor because of the dog's name. Instead, the local sheriff is saying that the dog was shot by a neighboring farmer whose livestock were being threatened by the unsupervised dog:
The Jackson County Sheriff’s office concluded the person who shot Donald Trump the dog Sunday was “legally protecting their livestock” on private property. The shooter has not been identified.
According to court records, Thom has a long history of allowing his dogs to run loose, killing other animals and attacking at least one person. He was also convicted of a "dogs and cats at large" misdemeanor charge back in 2015.

Several of Thom's neighbors have been subjected to violent threats since this story went viral, according to the AP. As of this writing, his GoFundMe Page has raised $2,393 to be given to Thom who reasons that aren't completely clear, presumably to cremate his dog.
