Banshee Returns to Action in ASTONISHING X-MEN #13!

I've been catching up this weekend with my latest comic books. I was happy to read ASTONISHING X-MEN #13, which thankfully heads in a completely different direction from the previous twelve issues.

Havok was recently telepathically and medically fixed over in X-MEN BLUE, so he is no longer a villain. It actually proved pretty easy to revert his personality back into his old heroic mindset. Frankly, it makes one wonder why it never occurred to anyone to try fixing Havok back when Red Skull originally inverted his personality.

Regardless, Havok is no longer a villain. But everyone looks at him like he's still a villain. So he does what anyone else with an ounce of common sense would do if they needed to do some reputation rehab? He recruits mutants for a new team of X-Men!

And yet, nobody wants to join his team because of the whole "aren't you a villain?"-thing. After getting kicked out of the Xavier School, Havok tracks down Beast and asks him to join up. Beast initially refuses, but it's clear from ASTONISHING X-MEN #13's cover that Beast will eventually decide to stick around -- along with Warpath, Dazzler, and Colossus.

But we also discovered one extra secret member of Havok's team: Banshee!

Banshee has been an off-again/on-again member of the X-Men since the last 1970s. He eventually lost his sonic powers, got better, rejoined the X-Men, and then began leading Generation X alongside Emma Frost. He then got killed about ten years ago by Havok's secret-never-before-seen brother Vulcan.

Banshee eventually got resurrected by the Apocalypse Twins a few years ago and recruited into the Horsemen of Death. The Horsemen were eventually defeated by the Uncanny Avengers and Banshee was taken into care by the X-Men and Avengers so that they could heal him of the Death Seed energy that originally transformed him into a Horseman. And then everyone forgot about Banshee.

Until now...

During an attack, Beast summons Banshee from some secure cell. And Banshee quickly uses his sonic scream to wipe out a contingent of the Reavers! The question now is whether or not Banshee is still messed up by the Death Seed energy? Probably just enough to make him a bit of a loose cannon.

I'm actually pretty excited to see Banshee back in action. He's a kick-ass hero with pretty powerful abilities.

"Until Our Hearts Stop" features writing by Matthew Rosenberg, pencils by Greg Land, inks by Jay Leisten, colors by Frank D'Armata, and letters by VC's Clayton Cowles.
