I struggled to watch "Coronation Street" earlier last week -- but I've loved watching last Friday's and last night's episodes. Much of it has to do with Flora leaving Daniel's apartment. I really didn't like Flora when she first arrived, but I've really grown to enjoy her!

Daniel and Sinead threw two going-away parties for Flora -- and she reciprocated by giving Daniel an engagement ring to give to Sinead and then gave about $17,000 to Sinead so that she can open a vintage clothing shop.

I'm still not 100% certain if Flora is leaving the show for good -- but she had one of the best lines in last night's episode. Check out that meme!

But the big story that's currently playing out on "Corrie" has to do with sepsis. Sepsis is an extreme and life-threatening response to a bacterial infection. Left untreated, it can be fatal. Signs of sepsis include confusion or disorientation, shortness of breath, high heart rate, fever or feeling very cold, extreme pain or discomfort, and clammy or sweaty skin. Sepsis is treated in the hospital and treated with of effective treatments that include antibiotics, oxygen supports, and IV fluid. It's may also be necessary to remove tissue that's been damaged by the infection.

On Friday's episode of "Corrie," Sophie was playing soccer with her brother Jack. He ended up scrubbing his knee. He began getting sick within a couple of days. However, everyone -- including two doctors -- assumed that he'd just caught a virus. Fortunately, Dr. Ali kept checking on Jack and eventually realized that the boy was much sicker than any else had suspected!

Jack was rushed to the hospital and immediately placed on life supports. Ali's suspicious that Jack had contracted sepsis was confirmed by the hospital staff. They broke the new to his parents, Kevin and Sally, and Sophie and said that the next 24 hours will be crucial for Jack's recovery -- if he survives at all!

I know that Sophie will struggle with guilt over not taking Jack's illness more seriously, but I've resisted the urge to look to closely at the spoilers to see if the boy actually recovers or not.
