Remember when Archie Comics announced that it had scored the publishing rights to DICK TRACY, only to learn a few weeks later that there was already a preexisting licensing deal involving the character and Archie Comics had to scrap its plans?
Looks like Hermes Press is the publisher who currently holds that licensing agreement. Hermes Press won't be publishing an ongoing DICK TRACY series like Archie Comics had planned, but instead will publish a graphic novel in late 2019. The story will be set in the 1940s and will feature artwork by Richard Pietrzyk.
Pietrzyk was friends with DICK TRACY creator Chester Gould and reports that many of the story and character ideas that will appear in this OGN were birthed over the years during conversations and collaborations.
