In Friday's episode, David was at the hospital to see his grandmother. While there, his eyes lingered for a bit on an informational poster about HIV.
I understand why the topic of HIV and AIDS would come up as this story line unfolds. And I really hope that David eventually gets tested to make sure that he's safe. But I really hope that we don't find out that he's HIV positive.
This story line has been such a high profile event and it's been difficult to witness all of the social media shaming towards him as a rape victim. I fear that it can only get worse if they actually do diagnose him with HIV following his rape.
Anyway, it was interesting to note how viewers of the program view certain scenes differently, depending on their lives. I saw David staring at the HIV poster and immediately began thinking about him possibly getting infected during the rape. One of my Facebook friends (a straight married woman) saw the same scene and began wondering about how David knows Seb (an HIV-positive character on the program) or why he cares about Seb and his illness.
