I've been dealing with an assortment of Christians lately who are really struggling on how to object to homosexuality while showing love to LGBT people and our families. Leave it to Pat Robertson to spell out that conflict in the most tone-deaf way possible. It happened on yesterday's episode of "The 700 Club" during the program's Bring It On segment.
Co-host Terry Meeuwsen shared a question from a viewer named Carol: "My sister asked me to go on a trip with her. We will be staying in a motel. She just informed me that we will be staying one night with her son and his boyfriend who live in the area. Is it wrong for me to stay there?"

Here is Pat's response:
Pat Robertson: Wait a minute! You're telling me that the son is a homosexual. That is how religious leaders like Pat Robertson instruct their followers to respond to LGBT relatives: avoid us and horriblize our home lives. What an awful man.
Terry Meeuwsen: It's her nephew.
Pat Robertson: It's a nephew?
Terry Meeuwsen: It's her sister's son.
Pat Robertson: Her sister's son... And he's living with this guy and it's not just like a friend...
Terry Meeuwsen: No, it's his boyfriend.
Pat Robertson: Is it wrong to stay there? I think you would be crazy to stay in that environment frankly if you're a dedicated Christian. I think it will put you in a compromising situation that you don't want to be in.
Terry Meeuwsen: It's awkward.
Pat Robertson: Extremely awkward.
