The Iowa City Police Department received a call at about 11:03 a.m. Wednesday of a man walking down an alley in Iowa City with a stolen TV in his hands, according to Iowa City police complaints. The city has recently seen multiple daytime burglaries, police said...The accused thief had multiple active warrants for his arrest for probation violation and failure to appear in court. He's been charged with second-degree theft and third-degree burglary. Both charges are class D felonies and are punishable by up to five years in prison.
A police investigation found that the front door of a home on the 2200 block of H Street a few blocks away had been forced open and a TV was missing, the complaints said. The home owner identified the stolen TV through photographs and said it was worth $1,200.
