Iowa City: Police Notify Public of Local Clown Sightings

Creepy clowns is the thing this year. I wrote last month about a pair in Georgia who got in trouble for making false reports about clowns attempting to lure children into a van. But the whole creepy clown is a thing. The clown shows up in odd places and freak out people by their mere presence. Iowa has avoided the creepy clown phenomena. Until now.

University of Iowa Police issued a statement about reports of a clown around campus here in Iowa City. They clarified that nobody has been harmed by the clown, nor has anyone been threatened by the clown. But the Department of Public Safety would like to chat with the clown. Their number is listed above.

I've already seen people fretting about the clown reports. One person even asked me if it was true that Marion, IA, has canceled trick-or-treating this Halloween because of the clown. (Jon's Exclusive: They're not.)

Most likely, this was a student prankster. Or it's a false report.

In other words, ignore the clown and s/he will go away!
