Earlier this week, the Iowa City Police got called out to a residence where three young children (ages 7, 4, and 3) were allegedly left unsupervised while their mother was shopping at the nearby K-Mart. According to the Press-Citizen, one of the three children called 911, which prompted the police visit. The mother arrived home while the police was there and began explaining the situation when the police observed something much worse than a false 911 call:
When the woman Tiffany Stanton Johnson, 25, arrived home and spoke to an officer on the scene, she stated that she had left her three children home alone to go shopping at Kmart. While speaking to the woman, the officer allegedly saw her son behind her playing with a crack rock, according to the complaint.

At this, Johnson was forced to admit that she sells crack cocaine. After giving a consent search, the officer found a can with 12 grams of crack cocaine packaged for sale.
According to the Press-Citizen, Johnson allegedly admitted to storing the crack cocaine in a can in her bedroom, which is where the police reportedly found the 12 grams noted above.

Johnson was arrested and charged with drug possession with intent to deliver, which is a Class C felony; possessing drugs without a drug tax-stamp, which is a Class D felony; allowing the possession of drugs within a home, which is an aggravated midemeanor; and child endangerment with no injury. Johnson remains in the Johnson County Jail (as of 02/14/13) on a $25,000 bond.
