Iowa Couple Claims They Found Marijuana Leaves in their Double Cheeseburgers

An Iowa couple claims that they found "plant material that looked and smelled like pot" tucked within the double cheeseburgers that they had purchased from a McDonald's restaurant in Ottumwa, IA.

An Ottumwa woman was hungry, so her fiance brought her some burgers from the local McDonald's and brought them to her at work. Both of them ate at least one bite from the burger before she realized that there was marijuana within the burger. I've personally never smelled marijuana leaves, but she claims that they stunk up the room enough that her co-workers asked her to place the burgers in a plastic smell to contain the odor and then to store them in the bathroom.

After work, she rushed over to McDonald's to complain about the weedy burgers. She also called the police, who are currently investigating this report.

What makes it worse is that the woman is six weeks pregnant and is concerned about how the one bite of marijuana-laced double cheeseburger might have affected her unborn child:
According to Songer, she is a picky eater who prefers the southside McDonald’s location to any restaurant in town. “Even before I was pregnant I would go there two to three times a day, the employees even recognize me... What really upsets me is that I have been a loyal customer of McDonald’s and they have not once apologized. They didn’t even offer me a refund, they just remade my burgers...

"I was in complete shock that someone would want to put that on someone’s food and give it to them. They have no idea who it’s going to and then it goes to a pregnant woman. I was very shocked, and then I got very angry that someone would do that. I just hope that they learn that was very foolish and hurtful... I have a very, very tiny fetus growing inside me right now and I don’t know if that harmed it at all. It’s a very scary thought.”
It's been about three weeks since this incident occurred and this couple still hasn't learned to trust the food workers of Ottumwa. Now when they eat out, they carefully inspect their food to ensure that nobody messes with their meals again. And I guess that's the biggest tragedy in this sad situation.
