By now, everyone is aware that 20-year-old Adam Lanza apparently killed his mother and then 26 people at a Connecticut elementary school (including 20 young children) with two pistols and one .223-caliber assault rifle. I was aware of the situation earlier today while working, but was distracted from the details of the situation due to my work responsibilities. Unfortunately, I just spent three hours in the car driving my one son to his mother's home which means I got to listen to three hours worth of details and commentary regarding today's shooting spree.
I feel sick. Sick for the families who've lost their loved one. Sick for the many students and school staff who were traumatized by the events of today. Sick for this country and its unrestrained love for high-power military weapons.
