Earlier this week, TV Choice Magazine began soliciting votes for the TV Choice Awards 2020. Which solicits votes from fans of various British TV shows under such headings as Best Drama Series, Best New Drama, Best Entertainment Show, Best Comedy, and Best Reality TV Show.
And then there are the soaps. Fans get to vote for their Favorite Soap and soap actors and actresses -- which is usually pretty easy for me because I only watch one British soap: "Coronation Street!"
It was pretty easy also to vote for this years Best Soap Actor: Jack P Shepherd -- once again because he's the only Corrie actor up for me. I've written about his portrayal of David Platt several times in the past (here, here, here, here, here, here, and here).
Picking Best Soap Actress was a bit more tricky. Two Corrie actresses are being voted on: Dolly-Rose Campbell (as Gemma Winter) and Shelley King (as Yasmeen Metcalfe). I think that Gemma's story lines have matured over the first year, but there was no question in my mind that I would vote for Shelley King. Her tortured portrayal of domestic abuse victim Yasmeen over the past year has been heart-breaking. I can't get enough of it! By the way, I've written about Yasmeen a couple of times in the past too (here and here).
Voting continues until midnight on Friday, July 17, 2020. You can vote here.
