Sad news tonight. I just learned that The CW decided to cancel "Katy Keene" following its first season. The underdog "Riverdale" spin-off never quit caught on with the fans. Unlike "Riverdale" -- whose initial streaming ratings saved the show's first season low broadcast ratings.
It appears that they're exploring other options, like getting HBO Max, to keep the musical dramedy going. But it's kind of a long shot...
I really enjoyed "Katy Keene," even though I didn't write too much about it here. Credit that to coronavirus fatigue. But I appreciated the theme of dream-seeking as a contrast to the dark subversive underbelly of "Riverdale."
I'll miss the show -- but I'm okay with its end.
