Amber, IA: Infamous "Hula Hoop Tree" May Suffer the Chop Due to Misbehaving Fans Who Can't Say Out of Neighboring Fields

Remember the Hula Hoop Tree in nearby Jones County, IA? The Hula Hoop Tree is this ragged old tree just outside of Amber, IA, that's gathered a fan base because of the large number of hula hoops that are hanging on its old branches.

Apparently, there was a huge storm a few years back. After the storm, several of the locals noticed that two hula hoops had found themselves hanging from the branches. The members of this tiny little unincorporated community quickly embraced the spirit of the Hula Hoop Tree and began hanging hula hoops all over the tree.

Gradually, the rest of the world discovered the Hula Hoop Tree and began making journeys to check out the colorful hula hoops and to take selfies.

It got busy enough that the Jones County Board of Supervisors began wondering last year if too many people were hanging out along the not-so-busy country highway to see the local attraction. Fearing that the Tree would get the Chop, the people of Amber mobilized and convinced the Board to adjust the speed near by Hula Hoop Tree instead.

Thus, the Hula Hoop Tree continues to attract dozens of people to the area. Which is great!

Except...

Except, it appears that the current global pandemic is boring too many Iowans. Tired of sitting around and watching Netflix, scores of people have been making day trips over the past couple of months to check out the Hula Hoop Tree. Which is great. But they're also trespassing on private property.

It seems that people are climbing over the barbed wire fence that's next to the Hula Hoop Tree and running around in the field. Which is making the property owners nervous because they don't want to get sued if someone gets tetanus from the fence or if a cow steps on them or something else.

In other words, the Hula Hoop Tree is on the verge of getting chopped down by the local landowners due to the misbehavior of Tree's fans.

So if you don't want to lose the Hula Hoop Tree, stay out of the field!!
