In anticipation of next Monday's Iowa Caucus, the Iowa Youth Straw Poll released the results of their 2020 student election. Which yielding interesting winners -- at least on the Democratic end of the spectrum.

Andrew Yang won the 2020 Iowa Youth Straw Poll with 22.5% of the Democratic votes. He was followed by Bernie Sanders (21%), Pete Buttigieg (17.8%), Joe Biden (11.5%), and Elizabeth Warren (9.6%). Other candidates received the following results: Tom Steyer (9.5%), Amy Klobuchar (2.6%), Tulsi Gabbard (2.5%), Michael Bloomberg (1.3%), Michael Bennet (0.8%), John Delaney (0.7%), and Deval Patrick (0.6%).

The GOP results were more predictable. Donald Trump won the 2020 Iowa Youth Straw Poll with 91.6% of the Republican votes. He was followed by Joe Walsh (5.1%) and Bill Weld (3.4%).

More importantly to me were the actual numbers. Granted these were high school students, but there were a total of 25,802 voters. There were 9,434 Republican voters throughout Iowa and 16,368 voters. One can hope that this splits continues during the actual 2020 Presidential Election!
