I came across this article earlier today about Bigfoot sightings around Iowa, which is always a good reminder that even Iowa with his miles and miles of farmland boasts plenty of Bigfoot sightings -- roughly 76 reports according to this chart.

Which got me to wondering about the most recent sightings in Iowa. Sadly, there haven't been any Iowa sightings yet in 2019 -- at least not according to the Bigfoot Field Researchers Organization (BFRO). But there were a few reports throughout the state in 2017 and 2018, including...

Near Protivin in Chickasaw County, IA (June 15, 2017): A couple was walking about a quarter of a mile from their home in a wooded area when they heard two very loud knocks. Apparently, one of their neighbors had heard something similar.

Here is the BFRO follow-up investigation notes:
The witness and his wife go walking in the early mornings daily. One nice calm morning around 6:30 am they were walking and they heard a whack sound and then after about four seconds heard a second whack sound. He looked to his wife and said what was that and her reply was I don’t know. The terrain is woods, small creeks, farm land and deer can be seen walking down the gravel road. Located in the same area as the Cardinal Marsh He was down at his neighbors, and asked if the neighbor had heard anything like a whack sound on a tree or wood. Neighbor said yes that it had sounded really close to the property and was really loud in about the same area as they were walking. He has hunted with a bow for many years and never seen anything unusual or smelled anything out of the ordinary, or heard that sound before. They have heard of several Bigfoot sightings in the Cardinal Marsh Wildlife Area.
Barnes City in Mahaska County, IA (June 2, 2018): According to a report in the Oskaloosa News, a fisherman encountered a tall, furry creature that ran around on two legs while fishing at Lake Hawthorne. The creature was roughly 6.5 feet tall and very hairy. "Very, very hairy." The fur was black and brown. It was so hairy that you couldn't see a face on the creature. The fisherman reported seeing the creature on the other side of the lake. It reportedly swam into the lake and appeared to be following him as he returned to his truck and left. This encounter was apparently reported to the Mahaska County Sheriff's Office and the Iowa DNR.

Do you have a story about a Bigfoot encounter -- in Iowa or elsewhere? I want to hear about it. Share your story in the comments section below!
