A
21-year-old man was arrested in northeast Iowa this past Saturday and charged with two counts of animal torture, which are aggravated misdemeanors. Douglas Usgaard of Decorah allegedly used an ax to kill a family member's 14-year-old Labradoodle named Trina and a 13-year Shih Tzu/Bichon mix named Maz in his relatives' home.
Usgaard is already awaiting trial on theft charges after being accused to stealing two iPhones from the Luther College football stadium. He was charged with violating his pre-trial supervision yesterday, which is a felony charge.
Usgaard is currently being held without bond at the Winneshiek County Jail/
