(Originally written on 02/22/19): There's a news article circulating today out of Des Moines involving a car chase, involving a father and his daughter, and the father reportedly shot at his daughter's vehicle (Jon's Note: He denies this btw.), and he's a pastor.

According to news reports, Des Moines police were alerted a domestic car chases shortly after midnight Friday morning. They arrested Rev. Michael Cameron of Revival Center Church of God in Christ and charged him with four criminal courts, alleging that he shot at the other car.

Rev. Cameron reportedly told officers that he was trying to protect his daughter from an abusive relationship, but denied shooting his gun:
"He goes over there to make sure this boy's not beating (his daughter) up and he ends up in jail," (Rev. Cameron's wife) Shawnice Cameron said when reached Friday night. She said Michael Cameron went over to a home in the 2700 block of Cottage Grove Avenue, where the daughter was staying with her boyfriend, because she had told a family member she was going to be assaulted. Three of the couple's 12 children were in Cameron's car at the time of the incident, police say. Two were minors, leading to two counts of child endangerment. Shawnice Cameron said her boys did not report hearing a shot. The daughter has not provided police with a report of what happened after the incident, Shawnice said.
According to police, two legally owned guns were found in the father's car, along with a spent shell casing.

Rev. Cameron has been charged with two counts of child endangerment, which is an aggravated misdemeanor; one charge of domestic abuse assault with a dangerous weapon, which is an aggravate misdemeanor; and intimidating with a serious weapon (injury/provoke fear), which is a class C felony. And there is a no-contact order between the pastor and the three children who were involved in this incident.

Updated on 08/16/19: A plea deal has been struck in this case. Rev. Michael Cameron Sr. pleaded guilty to Disorderly Conduct late last week. He was sentenced to one day in jail (already served) and must pay a $65 fine.

Cameron continues to deny accusations by police that he fired a gun at his daughter's car earlier this month. He also denies that he threatened anyone with his gun back in February. He continues to assert that he was going to get his daughter from an unsafe situation.

At this point, Cameron is mainly trying to clarify his role in the February 2019 incident, to clear his name, and to move on.
