LGBTQ Nation has a touching story up right now about a gay man who married his childhood friend and boyfriend of five years earlier this month -- days before dying of stage IV liver cancer and Hodgkin's lymphoma.

Alfredo Garcia III was admitted earlier this month to Seasons Hospice MacNeal Inpatient Center in Chicago after his cancer has spread through his lymphatic system. The director of the hospice asked Garcia about his dying wishes and learned that Garcia wanted to marry his boyfriend, Erwin Sigueroa, before he died.

They initially tried arranging for a courthouse official to make it official, but Garcia's health was quickly declining so the couple and their friends and family held a commitment ceremony instead. The two men held hands and exchanged the following vows: "I Freddy/Erwin take you Erwin/Freddy as my partner in life and my one true love. I will cherish our friendship. I will love you today, tomorrow and forever."

They then toasted the ceremony with a cup of champagne.

You can watch videos of the exchanging of vows and the champagne toast by following these links.
