Friday night was pretty chaotic this past week. A tornado ripped through Iowa City. We had family in town for our youngest son's high school graduation and we were decorating our church for his graduation party. But we still managed to watch "Mama June: From Not to Hot." It wasn't the season finale as I'd originally assumed, but instead it was a special episode titled "The Road to Intervention" featuring interviews between Pumpkin and Doe Doe with producer Moriah where they discussed Mama June's steady mental and physical decline and Geno's abusive behavior.
Basically, it was a clip-show.
I got a better impression of the swelling in Mama June's hand and legs. It looks like stress was causing her back to knot up horribly, which spread out into her limbs. So the muscle relaxants made more sense to me after watching this.
Pumpkin and Doe Doe discussed this spring's arrest. According to Pumpkin, June and Geno were arguing horribly while traveling. It got bad enough that June called 911 twice (and then hung up). While Geno was inside a gas station, an unmarked police vehicle arrived and they were both arrested.
In addition to their drug charges, Geno reportedly told June that he was going to kill June, which is why he was charged with domestic abuse. Court's been delayed because they're not allowed to have the same attorney -- and June is trying to finance Geno's new attorney. Meanwhile, Doe Doe thinks that Geno should get a public defender since he has no money of his own. We also learned from the show that June's attorney has requested the court to be removed from the case.
Next week's episode will feature the family's intervention (facilitated by Dr. Ish of "Marriage Bootcamp"), but it doesn't appear that June will stay long enough to get anything out of it. Also, Sugar Bear and Jennifer are going to fight to get custody of Alana, but I don't think they've been successful so far.
But we'll find out more next week!
