I haven't watched "Double Dare" in years. It's a long-running Nickelodeon game show where kids battle kids and families battle families and they all get slimed in the process. Apparently, the show got rebooted earlier this year as "All New Double Dare." And earlier this week, "All New Double Dare" featured its very first two-dad family!
I tried watching the episode online, but Nickelodeon doesn't air actual episodes of "All New Double Dare" online, just clips. Which is a pity because I really want to see this episode, but I likely won't get the chance.
But I did get to see this great clip featuring "All New Double Dare" co-host Lisa Koshy as she introduced Team Double Dads on Thursday's episode:
I was actually a bit surprised that we haven't seen any gay parents on any of these Nick game shows by now. I been a parent for nearly 20 years and have known other same-sex parents going back well into the 90s so it always takes me back when I'm reminded that others still consider gay parenting to be new and exotic.
Anyone else catch this episode of "All New Double Dare?" If so, what did you think of it? More importantly, did Team Double Dads win?

I'm so excited to be here hosting this game of family edition "Double Dare." Let's meet our team! In blue, we have Oscar and Marcos and their dads Liberty and Bryan! They love football and they love each other. They are Team Double Dads! That's right! It's about time we had double dads on "Double Dare!"Koshy then spent some time talking about how the family came to be (foster to adoption), how the dads are referred to in their home (Papa and Dad), and their favorite football teams (Patriots, Dolphins, and Panthers).
