Marvel Comics is planning this AGE OF APOCALYPSE comic book mini-series early next year, presumably featuring the return of Nate Grey as a messianic entity. It's spinning out of the current UNCANNY X-MEN book, which seems to be all about deconstructing the X-Men and assorted mutants (again). Like the 1990s AGE OF APOCALYPSE series, Marvel Comics is planning six separate five-issue mini-series featuring the X-Men and assorted mutants in new lives and attitudes.

The titles include: THE MARVELOUS X-MEN (featuring writing by Lonnie Nadler & Zac Thompson and art by Marco Failla); NEXTGEN (featuring writing by Ed Brisson and art by Marcus To); THE AMAZING NIGHTCRAWLER (featuring writing by Seanan McGuire and art by Juan Frigeri); THE X-TREMISTS (featuring writing by Leah Williams and art by Georges Jeanty); PRISONER X (featuring writing by Vita Ayala and art by German Peralta); and APOCALYPSE AND THE X-TRACTS (featuring writing by Tim Seeley and art by Salva Espin).

Some of these titles interest me much more than others. I really like the Marvelous X-Men team (Jean Grey, Nate Grey, X-23, Nightcrawler, Colossus, Magneto, Storm, and Nature Girl) and the artwork is really nice. Similarly, the X-Tremists feature a really fun line-up (Psylocke, Iceman, Jubilee, and Blob, plus two others who aren't immediately recognizable to me -- maybe Honey Badger (??)) and the artwork is sharp! And I'm not a huge fan of the artwork in APOCALYPSE AND THE X-TRACTS, but I love the line-up and I'm really digging Apocalypse as a flower-power cult guru!

These books will make their debuts starting in February 2019 and stretch into March 2019.
