"It's Okay To Be White" Flyers Littered in Iowa City

There were reports in Iowa City earlier this week of people finding racist flyers on their car windshields. The Iowa City Police sent out a press report to the community with the following description:

The Iowa City Police Department received a report of flyers being distributed in one of the City’s parking ramps. Officers responded to the Dubuque Street Parking Ramp, 220 S. Dubuque St., on Thursday, Nov. 1, 2018. There they found papers placed on vehicles that read “It’s okay to be white.” No other markings or wording were displayed.

The flyers are reminiscent of last January when a troll in a Pepe the Frog sweatshirt littered the Iowa City Ped Mall with "It's okay to be white" stickers during a Women's March.

The police were quick to note that there's nothing illegal about the flyers, but that people should report these types of incidents anyway.

It's worth noting that the"It's okay to be white" flyers were littered in or near several university campuses on the night of October 31st/November 1st, including North Carolina State University, Duke University, Tufts University, and American River College.

Commenters might question why it's not okay to be white. It actually is okay to be white. But don't pretend that these flyers aren't part of a white nationalist agenda.
