Orange City, Iowa: Sioux County Conservatives Obsess Over OC Pride // Highlight Video by Religious Culture Warrior Who Burns Library Books with LGBTQ Content

The second OC Pride wrapped up yesterday. I wasn't able to attend this event -- though I would have like to be there. But it's way across the state and I had to work. But my online friends kept me updated with how things went and it appeared to be well received for those who attended.

I decided to check out the Sioux County Conservatives FB page yesterday afternoon. I was actually quite surprised with how obsessed they were with all of the OC Pride events -- picking them apart and fretting about them. They were particularly triggered by all of the drag events. They were upset that there were events for children of LGBTQ people and their allies at the OC Pride event. They were upset that there was an affirming worship service on Sunday. They were generally upset about everything OC Pride-related.

One of the things that they posted was a 27 minute video of Paul Dorr of Rescue the Perishing. He highlighted several children's books that he picked up from the public library and then he burned all of them. That's right. He checked out a bunch of books from the public library and burned them while livestreaming his crime. It's made national news:
The Orange City Public Library said it's exploring legal options after a northwest Iowa man rented and then publicly burned several children's books Friday... Amanda Vazquez, the library's director, said she learned of the video on Saturday. The library "alerted the board" and spoke with authorities to determine "next steps," including possible legal action, Vazquez said. The Orange City Police Chief confirmed that parties were discussing legal action, but declined to comment further.
Dorr burned "Two Boys Kissing" by David Levithan, "Morris Micklewhite and the Tangerine Dress" by Christine Baldacchino, "This Day In June" by Gayle E. Pitman, and "Families, Families, Families!" by Max Lang.

Meanwhile... Remember how the Sioux County Conservatives targeted the public libraries last year after OC Pride's first gathering (here and here)? Might I predict their next target? (hint) It appears that they have been counting the reasons to target various Northwestern College professors, alumni, and students. After all, if Northwestern College didn't exist, would OC Pride be happening? (Don't worry. They're certainly not going after the college. They are just asking a question...)
