A postal worker was doing his rounds yesterday in Iowa City when he noticed smoke coming out of the front. The postal carrier managed to maneuver the vehicle to a safe place and escaped safely with all of the letters and packages within.
The Iowa City Fire Department was summoned and was able to put out the fire -- but not before the mail truck itself was gutted.
It appears that the fire started in the mail truck's engine compartment.
