Marvel Comics' new WEST COAST AVENGERS series launched this week (featuring the Hawkeyes -- Kate Bishop & Clint Barton, Fuse, Ms. America, Gwenpool, and Quentin Quire) and it's been pretty fun so far. In the first issue, Kate was prompted to organize a new team of west coast-based heroes after finding herself in a lurch while Santa Monica got attacked by a pack of mega land sharks.
Shortly after the team organized, they got called back into action by a giant, mindless Tigra! Despite their better efforts, the new WACKOs found themselves unable to get the former Avenger under control.
At their darkest moment, a new (possible) champion rose up to save everyone from Tigra: B.R.O.D.O.K.!
That's right! There's a new M.O.D.O.K. in town! I've always been a fan of M.O.D.O.K. He's always cracked me up, particularly when watching the 1990s "Iron Man" animated series. I particularly enjoyed it when other versions of M.O.D.O.K. were introduced, like M.O.D.A.M./S.O.D.O.M., the infant M.O.D.O.K., and M.O.D.A.A.K. So B.R.O.D.O.K. (AKA the Bio-Robotic Organism Designed Overwhelmingly for Kissing) is a welcome addition to Marvel Comics!
Of course, I can't help worrying that B.R.O.D.O.K. is behind Tigra's present predicament. But we won't know that for sure until WEST COAST AVENGERS #2!
WEST COAST AVENGERS #1 features writing by Kelly Thompson, art by Stefano Caselli, coloring by Triona Farrell, and lettering by VC's Joe Caramagna.
