Remembering Aretha Franklin

Aretha Frankin died yesterday. I've been so busy that I really haven't had much of a chance to acknowledge the passing of the Queen of Soul. But I've seen video from her "Blues Brothers" performance of "Think" over and over on Facebook. I love this performance and I can't get it out of my head.

Truth be told though, I've actually never sat down and watched the entire "Blues Brothers" movie. I just haven't. Some friends of mine told me that I owe it to Aretha to watch it and maybe I'll do that. I'm just not sure when I'll have the time...

As much as I enjoy listening to that performance, my favorite Aretha Franklin moment was when she appeared on "Murphy Brown" and performed "(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman" with Canice Bergen way back in the early 90s. In it, Murphy Brown had secured an exclusive one-on-one interview with her musical idol for her program. Unfortunately, Franklin's transportation got all mixed up and she ended up missing the entire interview -- which of course was filmed live.

But the women eventually connected and Murphy eventually got to sing a private duet with Aretha in this clip -- just not very well.
