I was on Facebook this morning and saw a post by the United Church of Christ reminding us that tomorrow is National HIV Testing Day. The CDC is pushing a new campaign called #DoingItMyWay, which encourages regular HIV testing — and talking about getting tested regularly on social media. Basically, it’s an effort to knock out some of the stigma behind getting tested.
How do you get tested for HIV — at home, the clinic, with someone you care about?
I’ve been tested a few times over the years. I was tested in a county clinic back when I was in college. My now-husband Mark and I were tested at a local free clinic shortly after starting our relationship in an effort to establish both of our HIV statuses. And I’ve been tested more recently (twice) while getting life insurance policies.
How about you?
