Think Progress shared the results of a new CBS News poll that shows a slim majority of Americans -- 51% altogether -- support marriage equality, while only 41% of Americans oppose equal marriage rights, responsibilities and protections for gay and lesbian couples. Both Democrats and Independents show the most support for gay and lesbian families (63% and 55% respectively) while Republicans predictably oppose our families by 66%. And, as always, the older you get the more likely you are to support gay and lesbian families. Interestingly, married people are nearly tied is supporting and opposing gay and lesbian families (45% VS. 47%).
