The Johnson County Board of Supervisors kicked off Pride Month with the following proclamation:
It appears that it was a unanimous vote by the BOS. Happy Pride Month!PROCLAMATIONPRIDE MONTHJUNE 2017
Whereas, lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered people across the nation celebrate pride in their culture and community in the month of June; and
Whereas, the whole community is strengthened and enhanced through the contributions of all its diverse citizens; and
Whereas, lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered people in Johnson County will celebrate Pride Month in June with a picnic in Upper City Park on Friday, June 16, 2017, at 6:00 PM, and a parade and festival on Saturday, June 17, 2017 starting at noon in the Iowa City Pedestrian Mall. Now, therefore, be it resolved that we, the Johnson County Board of Supervisors, do hereby proclaim the moth of June 2017 to be:PRIDE MONTHand encourage Johnson County residents to recognize the many contributions that lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered individuals and communities have made to our County.
