Here's the gist for those who are unfamiliar with this program. A few years ago, TLC gathered five Amish and Mennonite adults and transplanted them into NYC to live as "English" people and struggle to cope. Keep in mind that most of these TV personalities (Jeremiah, Kate, Abe, Sabrina, and Rebecca) had already lived lives away from their conservative religious communities. But the show took off and these folks continue to reunite every few months -- along with Abe's mother Mary.
Over the years, Abe and Rebecca have married and had kids. Kate has increasingly distanced herself from the program and the others due to her growing modeling career. Sabrina has struggled with drug abuse and homelessness and is now in the process of losing parental rights of her young daughter. And Jeremiah continues to have run-ins with the law for a variety of reasons.
Case in point...
Last season ended with 37-year-old Jeremiah Raber marrying his new love, Carmela. News broke late last month that Jeremiah getting arrested on 04/22/17 and charged with domestic assault against his wife.
According to the arrest report:
During a verbal dispute the defendant did purposely throw hot coffee onto the lap of his wife. The defendant did make several threats to cause harm *REDACTED* during the argument. The victim did show me several large bruises on her legs and arms that were caused from the defendant striking her with a closed fist. The victim stated that the defendant strikes her on a daily basis.Raber told Radar that he has "evidence" to prove that he is innocent of these charges, implying that the abuse in their relationship goes both ways.
