Another Super Bowl has come and gone -- and another Super Bowl Sunday has come and gone where I skipped the game and watched the "Puppy Bowl" on Animal Planet instead! This is a football-themed romp featuring adorable puppies running around for two hours. The program has become increasingly commercialized over the years, which has diminished my enjoyment. But it's still fun to watch -- if only for a few minutes.
I just learned from the news that four rescue puppies from central Iowa were featured on yesterday's "Puppy Bowl XIII." These puppies were housed at Heinz 57 Pet Rescue and Transport shelter in De Soto, IA. The featured puppies were Laila (a pit bull-boxer mix originally rescued from Missouri), Bismark (a blue tick coon hound who was born in the shelter), Sweet Corn (a terrier mix originally rescued from Pryor, OK), and Luciana (a Chihahua who was so fearful about her "Puppy Bowl" experience that she refused to step on the stadium grass!).
All four puppies have been adopted.
